The Key / In design

A personal way back in.

A personal second authentication factor, with direct communication and location through participating mesh devices being explored alongside account recovery.

Control should stay with the person.

The Key is being designed as a second authentication factor: a unique physical device under its owner’s control, with direct communication and mesh-assisted finding as part of the concept. How it is enrolled, recovered and revoked matters as much as its shape.

Finding it without an internet connection.

The aim is to locate and communicate with the device through a participating mesh when ordinary internet access is unavailable. A new location still requires power and a reachable radio or relay path. Without one, the interface must distinguish a last-known location from a current fix.

Design questions, not security promises.

Device loss, recovery, misuse and compatibility need real testing. This concept page does not claim that a device cannot be cloned or stolen, or that a finished product is available to order.
